Safeguarding Awareness Co-ordinators (SAC) are a mandatory appointment

Safeguarding Team at Gilwell Park

Main Activities:

·         Support the relevant Training Manager in the effective delivery of training modules with safeguarding content – either through advice to trainers or by directly supporting delivery

·         Deliver workshops to enhance understanding of the Association’s Child Protection and Anti Bullying Policies – on a pro-active basis in liaison with District Commissioners

·         Support District Explorer Scout Commissioners and Explorer Scout Young Leader Unit Leaders in the training of ESYLs – either through advice or by directly supporting delivery

·         Support CEOP ‘Think U Know’ training delivered in the County/Area/Region (Scotland)

·         Provide advice and guidance to the organisers of events staged within the County / Area / Region (Scotland) to ensure that best practice is made available and only restrictions based on genuine best practice and the Association’s policies are imposed

·         Inform the relevant Commissioner and the appropriate Trustee Board about the compliance with safeguarding measures in their areas and advise what may be done to further encourage best practice and the implementation of the Association’s safeguarding policies

·         Support adults participating in the NSPCC ‘Keeping Children Safe’ distance learning programme and act as the local co-ordinator (unless other arrangements are in place)

·         Work collaboratively with all adults to ensure that the Association’s safeguarding policies are understood and implemented at all levels
