Scouting is a global, co-educational youth Movement with up to 40 million members worldwide. Northumberland Scouts are part of the UK Scout Association with whom we share our common purpose:

To actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

Northumberland Scouts is one of the largest youth organisations in the North East with over 8000 members. We operate across the areas of Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

Scouting is a uniformed organisation open to all young people irrespective of class, ethnic origin, nationality (or statelessness) or race, gender, marital or sexual status, mental or physical ability, political or religious belief.

Through a structured and progressive programme of activities, young people are able to take part in a range of experiences from canoeing, abseiling and mountain biking to music, drama and the creative arts. The programme provides opportunities for all young people to have their achievements recognised through a range of awards. Supportive and comprehensive training is provided for all adults.

Every year Scouting helps over 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors, interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available.
