Dear All
Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive Thank You to Michael for his leadership, motivation, and development of Northumberland Scouts over the last 7 years. Michael has done an amazing job and as he prepares to move on to new opportunities, he should be very proud of the way he has shaped Northumberland Scout County.
As you know we launched a search for a new CC early this year and I would like to say thank you to all who have worked hard to ensure we found the right future leader for the County – and we have!
I am delighted to be able to share with you that Peter Thorp has agreed to be the new County Commissioner of Northumberland Scouts. Many of you will know Peter in his current role as DCC and from his many other current and past roles in the County.
Peter will bring to the role a wealth of Scouting experience and knowledge as well as extensive leadership experience developed in his professional life. Peter has a real passion for Scouting and truly values what it delivers for young People. I and the search group are certain that Peter will continue to develop the already fantastic Scouting provision that you all help to deliver in Northumberland.
Peter will officially commence his appointment on the 1st July 2022. Prior to this Michael and Peter will be working closely together. Michael will be focussing on the operation of the County and Peter concentrating on meeting people, learning even more about the County, and considering future opportunities.
I know you will all join me in wishing Peter every success in this important role.
Ian Hill
North East Regional Commissioner
