September 2009
Welcome to the Northumberland County Scouts eNews. This is the
fourth edition of our new eNews which contains the type of information
you would normally have read in the old paper version of County News.
The old paper edition of County News does not now exist and the last
edition was printed in July 2009. It is particularly important that
all Leaders have signed up to the County Website and selected 'County
News' when registering as this will only be sent to those of you who
have registered on the website. If you are an existing member of the
website you can login and check your account details by clicking on 'My
Account' to see what newsletters you are subscribed to.
County eNews on the Website
A
number of people receiving the County eNews by email are not receiving
this in the intended format due to the characteristics of different
email providers, email clients and browsers etc. The County eNews
should appear with the Northumberland banner at the top of the page and
spaced out between news items. If you are not receiving the eNews as
we intend it to look, then you can now access the latest version on the
County website by
clicking here
.
You can now find all the names of the latest Awards which have been submitted to County Office by clicking here.

County Badge Weekend (Expedition Challenge) 24th - 25th October 2009
(Scouts, Richard Brown)
There
is still time to book for this year's Scout section badge weekend. All
bookings must be in by 25th September. There will also be an
additional option for this expedition to be undertaken by bike although
you will need to let us know if this is the case so starting times can
be prioritised. This year, we will be undertaking the Expedition
Challenge Badge at Kielder Water. The aim of the weekend will be to
complete the 27 mile hike/cycle around Kielder Water although there
will be a slightly shorter route available for those who may struggle
with the distance. Lots more detail is available on the County Website
within the County Calendar by
clicking here.
I have recently added pre-event information packs, health forms,
equipment list and form NAN for those registered and for anyone
requiring further information.

Network in Northumberland
(Scout Network, Scott Feltham)
We
are looking to set up the new County Network team as fast as possible.
Network is run for its members, for its members so we need some
volunteers. Initially, we need a representative or two from each
Network Group and/or Districts to become part of the County Network
Committee who will help run the County Network programme. We also need
volunteers to help with the first event in the County Network programme
"A County Network Winter Ball". This would kick start Network into
2010 and beyond. Please contact me if you have some creative ideas and
if you think your Network Group think they can host this special
event. As the County Network team gets set up, we promise to bring an
exciting programme of events throughout the year to support and enhance
Network Scouting across Northumberland. Watch the County website for
news on County Network events.
PS - we need your help! Are
you a Network Leader, Network Member or a Leader under 25? Or, do you
know anyone who fits the criteria?
