Scouting across the North East region propose to stage an event - Northern Lights - in Sheffield Arena in 2011. Come to a special presentation (08th December 2009) by the production team being hosted by Brewin Dolphin at their offices in Gallowgate in Newcastle to find out how you can get involved. Now is the time to be giving all of our Scouts and Explorers that are the right age the opportunity to apply to be a member of the Northumberland Unit. It is so important that as Leaders we give our young people this information and let them decide if they would like to apply. Peel Award Trophy returns to Castle Morpeth (Cubs, Helen Denton)
Winners of the competition held on the 17th October were 6th Morpeth, followed by the 8th Whitley Bay, winners of the Sanderson Flag in June. 10 Teams took part in this Trading Post Style competition where money from the bank of Cublandia is gained depending on the challenge they attempt. The winner is the team with the most money. Thanks to all those that supported the event.
Centre For Life Cub Astronomer Badge (Cubs, Helen Denton)
I would appreciate feedback from the Packs who went to the Centre for Life as I am about to have discussions with them regarding any improvements that could be made.

Medieval Marra'10 (All Sections, Richard Brown)
The Medieval Marra'10 website has been launched on the County Website. Want to find out more about the camp then visit the site by clicking here . We have now launched the online bookings and have received our first booking. Follow the link on the website to bookings to book in your group for the weekend or as day visitors. If you are interested in attending as staff then you can now book online by clicking here . Please note there is a discount for bookings before the end of March 2010 and the closing date for all bookings is 23rd April 2010.
Adult Training Update (David McKenzie)
Our first group of NVQ candidates is very close to completing the qualification. The end of the year promises to be a landmark for the Activity Leadership Award. Well done to those Leaders who are woking hard to complete and of course, to their dedicated Assessors who are supporting them.
Since the summer we have been able to celebrate the Award of the Wood Badge to the following Leaders. Our thanks to these people for committing to providing better Scouting for More Young People: Robert Crumpton, GSL 8th Blyth, Stephen Hogg, GSL 1st Felton, Ron Lee, ASL 5th Tynemouth, Sean McDougle CSL 1st Prudhoe, Mark Taylor, ACSL 82nd Newcastle, Christine Thompson, ACSL 2nd Cramlington, Jill Thompson, BSL 4th Tynemouth.
